In 2004 a special Porsche 996 drove the Rallye Omloop van Vlaanderen. Behind the wheel was rally-driver Marc Duez. The car was Porsche’s Future World prototype car, with Road Challenge decals and yellow hood. This car had evolved from the yellow 2001 rally-car that was driven by Röhrl and Geistesdorfer. It’s license plate was BB-GT-428 was spotted. After that ten more cars were produced, so in fact there are 11 Future World cars in total.
During it’s lifetime BB-GT-428 had been one of the training cars for German rally-driver Olaf Dobberkau (you can see the car in the last photo at Dobberkau’s). It was said to be crashed and destroyed later on, but in 2014 the car suddenly showed up at the Bensberg Classic. According to Porsche Archive chief Dieter Landenberger this car is now part of the Porsche Museum Collection.
